Snowball Penguin

Terms of Service

Last updated: September 6, 2026 (§4 corrected the free-month trigger — it fires at your first check-in, not your first debt payoff — and Pro now includes the check-in record)

Plain English: You can use the free planner. It is not financial advice. We do not promise the math fits your situation. Double-check anything that matters.

1. What this is

Snowball Penguin ("the Penguin") is a web app that models debt payoff plans using the snowball method and related scenarios. It is a calculator with a point of view, not a professional service. The Penguin is a product of Golden Data ("we", "us", "our").

2. Not legal or financial advice

Nothing in this app — nothing it outputs, nothing we say anywhere — is financial, legal, tax, accounting, credit, or debt-settlement advice. Talk to a licensed professional before making decisions that matter. The Penguin gives you a cleaner read on the numbers. It does not replace the professionals.

3. Your data

By default, your app data (balances, payment amounts, rates, and payoff scenarios) lives in your browser's localStorage on your device and is not sent to our servers. If you sign in to enable cross-device sync, a copy of that plan data is also stored in our database (Supabase), scoped to your account, so you can pick the plan up on another device. You can stop syncing by signing out, or delete the cloud copy by emailing us. See the Privacy Policy for details.

4. Free and paid features

The free planner is meant to be useful on its own. The first time you mark a month's payment done, the app offers 30 days of Pro free — no card required. If you decline then, fully paying off your first debt earns one more offer; a decline there is final. One free month per account, ever. After that, Pro is available as a $5/month subscription or a $49 one-time lifetime purchase, for login, cloud sync across devices, the check-in record (months logged, streak, and real progress over time), and the PDF export. Customers who paid $49 at the original launch keep Pro under the original terms; no action needed. We may adjust pricing for future buyers.

5. Refunds

For paid features, refunds are honored within 30 days of purchase, no questions asked. Email us at support@snowballpenguin.app with the email address you used at checkout and we'll process it. For monthly subscription specifics (per-charge window, cancellation steps), see the Refund Policy.

6. No warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't warrant that it's error-free, accurate, fit for your specific financial situation, or will continue to exist tomorrow. Use your judgment. Double-check numbers that matter.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim.

8. Acceptable use

Don't: (a) try to reverse-engineer the app, (b) use it to harm or harass anyone, (c) scrape or automate interactions with it, (d) pretend you built it. Do: use it for your own financial planning.

9. Intellectual property

The app — including the name "Snowball Penguin", the design, the copy, and the code — is ours. The data you enter is yours.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. If we make a meaningful change, we'll note it at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration or small claims court, at our option.
